Problem: Macs in one zone (OAA) can't get their IP number from another zone (ADMIN) that has restricted access (via the switches in the config dialog for the Shiva NetBridge.) Current status of files/machines: CAP5.0 with patches/KIP0688 running on a FastPath 4 with KSTAR 5.03. KIP/CAP software running on a Sun 3/280(3.5). I'm running the MacIP and MacMH packages from Stanford (version 3.0). We have three zones currently; "PCAT" which has most of the student and faculty macs in computer science; "ADMIN" which has the FastPath and one or two printers in it; and "OAA" which has administrative computers/printers in it. The NetBridge between "OAA" and "PCAT" is set like this: OAA->PCAT (yes); OAA<-PCAT (no). Now it's apparent to me that when that config is chosen, replies can't e made back through the bridge. The main reason that it's set up this way is because their are TOPS volumes and printers in administrative offices that we don't want students to be able to access. I suppose my real question is how can I restrict access to the TOPS volumes and the printers in "OAA" while still allowing the users in "OAA" to utilize the FastPath facilities (MacIP/MacMH/NCSA_Telnet). Please respond by email to one of the addresses below. Thanks ahead of time for any help!
