I am looking for a way to hook an ethernet to an appletalk net. The obvious solution is to get a Kinetics box (Fastpath) and use the CAP/KIP freeware from Cornell (or is it Columbia?). I have this software, but no box to go with it yet. NRC sells the LT2000E which they claim is compatible with Kinetics software. Does this imply that it will work with CAP/KIP, or just some stuff that Kinetics sells? Has anyone used one of the boxes from NRC? Any help will be greatly appreciated. The applications most needed are printer spooling from Appletalk to a VAX on the Ethernet, and then printing of the spooled files from the VAX to a LaserWriter on Appletalk (allowing the VAX to spool files alongside the MACs). Also needed are file service for the Macs, with the server being the aforementioned VAX. Not needed but desired is TCP terminal service from a MAC. I have software that does all this with Kinetics' Fastpath, but what about the NRC 2000E? Dave Feldman david@dsl.cis.upenn.edu
