[net.jobs] Re Summer Jobs - have you tried Bell Labs???

ijk (01/26/83)

One thing college students should be aware of is that Bell Labs (and
presumably American Bell) hires a moderate number of students for the
summer. Note that the image of Bell Labs that people traditionally
have, while not necessarily incorrect, is perhaps incomplete. There
are many openings for CS people, as well as M.E. (physical design)
and psychology (human factors) in addition to those people that you may
normally expect: eg. physicists and E.E.'s. I've worked with several
summer hires and have been impressed with the results, and I believe they
were pleased also (at least one has come back for a second summer). Check
with your campus recruiting office - I would believe they would have
details.

Holmdel, New Jersey (note most facilities near NYC, with some in
		Chicago, Denver, and Columbus areas.

P.S. Another possibility for physics people - many years ago, I applied
to work at Brookhaven for the summer. With recent budget cuts, I don't know
if they do that sort of thing, but if you are interested in that area ....
