Dear FastPath 4 User,

In our continuing commitment to provide you with high quality and
reliable products, Novell(Formerly Kinetics) would like to inform you
of a potential problem with Kinetics FastPath 4.

Symptoms

1. Affected FastPaths may reset at irregular intervals, resulting in a
loss of network configuration and zones (i.e. the indicator lights on
    the front panel cycle continuously).

2. On power up, the unti may not pass self-verification (i.e. all front
panel indicator lights are on continuously).

Problem Description/Fix:

The DC power cable harness that connects the power supply to the main PCB
assembly may become loose causing interference with the voltage regulation
circuitry. To insure a consistent supply of voltage to the PCB, the cable will
be soldered to the power supply and PCB.

Solutions for future shipments.

All units manufactured since October 1st have the fix incorporated. The ECN
(Engineering Change Notice) level has changed to #2446, Rev.N which is stamped
on the outside of the shipping box, however Rev. J will appear on the under
side of the FastPath unit.

Warranty rework will be provided for FastPath 4's displaying the above
symtoms. Please contact Novell Customer Service at (408) 473-8700.
