[comp.protocols.appletalk] IPtalk drivers for directly connected Macs

tony@scotty.dccs.upenn.edu (Anthony Olejnik) (11/14/89)

I've trying to obtain some info about a (future ?) Kinetics product.

From what I understand, recently at InterOP 89's MAC BOF gathering,
Greg Minshall (of Kinetics) mentioned that Kinetics was working on an
"IPtalk" driver for the Mac. This driver would replace the "EtherTalk"
driver on Macs that are DIRECTLY connected to an ethernet (i.e. not
indirectly via a FastPath). This "IPtalk" driver would encapsulate the
AppleTalk protocols in IP on the local Mac, thus eliminating the need for
a gateway such as the FastPath or the GatorBox.

If anyone could provide me with additional info or an e-mail address of someone
whom I could contact to find out more, I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks.
