[comp.protocols.appletalk] problem with cap v5 and appleshare spooler

xyaj@vax5.CIT.CORNELL.EDU (12/07/89)

I'm now installing CAP v5 and have come across a problem with lwpr.
We are trying to use lwpr to print to our LaserWriter through the
Appleshare spooler. This, for the most part, works. However, the
log display on the Mac running the print spooler does not display
any `User' name or `document' name for jobs originating via
lwpr. The pertinent line, I believe, of postscript sent from lwpr is:

/statusdict where {pop statusdict /jobname (Lynch; document: Testing) put} if

(I've modified lwpr to dump this line to stdout as well as send it
to the spooler, so the above line should be exactly what is sent to
the spooler.)

The document does print just fine, but the logger shows blank fields
for both `user' and `document'. Anyone know what the spooler looks
for in parsing for these two fields?

Well, while I'm asking questions, is there some network tool that
will let me snoop on packets destined for the printer (or spooler)
so as to see exactly what is going down the wire?

Thanks in advance for any help in answering these questions!
