I have been using a KFP-4 with a KFP-2 both loaded with kip0688 and an atalkad server running off of a sun3 OS3.4. Everything seems to be running fine until we attempted to add yet another KFP-4. This new Fastpath has the 4.1 firmware and is loaded with kip0688. When the box is added to the ethernet it seems to get the other fastpaths confused and causes printers to come and go every few seconds. Needless to say I have pulled the new KFP-4 from the net until I can sort things out. The other KFP-4 is using an older version of the proms and it seems to be happy with life on our net. Then I bring another KFP-4 with 4.1 proms to another site which is all sparc based. I pulled a version of atalkad off the net which supports sparc stations and load the box with kip0688. It appears to boot just fine and I can get to my aufs servers. A problem I noticed is that NCSA-Telnet requests an IP address eventhough I have configured the atalkatab for 23 dynamic address. This dynamic address problem is experienced by both KFP-4's with 4.1 proms at both sites. I remember seeing something about 4.1 proms in KFP-4's earlier (about a year ago?) but I didn't capture any of it because there were no plans in the future for expansion (wrong). Is there a new kip0688 I should be running? would I be better off running kstar? Will kstar and kip run together on the same network? (remember on one network I have a KFP-4 and and KFP-2 talking to each other). Below is a copy of the atalkatab of the second site with a single KFP-4. Help needed.
