Question: we are considering attempting to port CAP to a 386/ix box that is *not* and *will not* run UDP (or any TCP/IP services). My own brief inspection of the code supports the notion that the UDP encapsulation used by CAP is only there to provide a transport service to get AT packets out to a FastPath or Gatorbox, via the Un*x box's own ethernet interface. What we're thinking of doing is having CAP talk to a AT card directly, just shipping out AT packets without any UDP or other encapsulation; the AT card would then ship these over some unspecified wire to a Mac or AppleTalk net. Has anyone done this before ? Does anyone have any comments on the reasonableness of the idea ? We're not quite up on news yet (maybe next week) - please reply by e-mail to: ...!uunet!scenic!pauld pauld%scenic@uunet.uu.net Paul Davis <pauld%scenic@uunet.uu.net> ScenicSoft, Inc.
