We are debating whether to allow dial-up Appletalk access into our facility. We currently run KIP and CAP with FastPath IV's internally. The debate which has arisen has to do with the fact that usernames and passwords for mounting Appleshare file systems are broadcast in clear text over CAP. Appletalk apparently has an encryption scheme for usernames and passwords which CAP apparently doesn't use. My questions to the net are: Is Apple's encryption scheme any good? Or is it designed to foil half-hearted attempts at snooping. Can CAP be set up to use Apple's encryption scheme? If not, would it be difficult to implement? I'll repost a summary if I get good responses. _______________________________________________________________________________ Dan Peterka S-CUBED 3398 Carmel Mtn Rd. dan@scubed.scubed.com (619) 587-8338 San Diego, CA 92121 _______________________________________________________________________________ _______________________________________________________________________________ Dan Peterka S-CUBED 3398 Carmel Mtn Rd. dan@scubed.scubed.com (619) 587-8338 San Diego, CA 92121 _______________________________________________________________________________
