Is there any way to use MacWorkStation over a TCP/IP network, to talk to a Unix host ? I have MWS 3.1 but there is only 2 serial and one AppleTalk comm-init to use. I need a comm-init, so I can talk to the Unix host with a FastPath 3, do I need MacTCP ? Please send answer or to comp.protocols.appletalk or program to: comp.sys.mac ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Bengt Alfredsson | | | Computer ___| | __ |/ Science and Engineering Mail: | | -+- |__| |\ Chalmers University of Technology d5alfre@dtek.chalmers.se |___| |__ |__ | \ 412 80 Gothenburg, Sweden ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Apple wrote a TCP/IP (actually Telnet) protocol module for MacWorkstation which worked with early alpha versions of MacTCP. I obtained the source of this from Apple in January of 1989 and fixed it up to work with the release version of MacTCP. Since that time we have fixed a couple of bugs and been using it regularly. There is also a version that runs over TCPort, that was also written here, but not by me. Apple wants nothing to do with this any more and so I'll try and find a low-pain way to release this to those who need it. As is the case for many of us, our employers own our intellectual products if developed on their equipment or time. Anyone needing this beast should send me mail - pressure will help.
