[comp.protocols.appletalk] Shiva NetModem & calling out

The Shiva NetModem comes with software to let someone use a modem to
cvonnect to your local appletalk network over the modem, as if they were
directly connected to your local net.

Can it be used in reverse? I.e, can you use a shiva Netmodem to dial out
and connect to someone else's appletalk net?

It works by defining the serial connnection to the modem as an alternate
appletalk connection: i.e., connecting to a remote net disconnects you
from your own local one. This is a problem if the modem you are using is a
local net device.

When I last called the Shiva Tech Support number in my manual, the phone 
was disconnected with no forwarding number.
