REGARDING AppleShare Lab question I am posting this question for our local high school. They have a lab with 20 floppy based Macs connected to an AppleShare server. Currently they are using MacWrite 4.5 for writing skills classes, but they would like to upgrade to something better that includes a good spelling checker. Students keep their files on floppies. The question is, which Mac word pocessor can be multi-launched without creating too much of a load on LocalTalk. Presently it takes about 4 minutes at the beginning of a class until everyone is going, and a significantly longer delay (due to loading a larger program) would be a problem. Also, how much load is generated if many students use the spelling checker simultanously? We are interested in performance data, but if someone who is running a writing-skills lab would comment on the merit of the various packages for use in such courses, such advice would be most welcome too. Grammer checkers are also of interest. Please respond by e-mail. I'll summarize to individuals (or the net if there is sufficient interest). Wolfgang N.
