I saw this question in comp.sys.mac and sent off the following suggestion and would appreciate your comments. > Would someone please direct me toward an X Window server for the Mac, as >in an X terminal emulator? It should have the ability to communicate via >the modem port. There are two X Window products that I know of: 1) eXodus from White Pines 2) Mac X from Apple that run under the Mac OS (A/UX also supports X Windows) but as far as I know both require an Ethernet connection (i.e. card) or an AppleTalk-Ethernet gateway (e.g. Kinetics) and perhaps even MacTCP. I do have a suggestion: Products like Liaison, software that lets you dial into an Appletalk network or NetBridge/TeleBridge from Shiva, hardware that lets you do the same, make your Mac look like it's on a slooow AppleTalk. If you then had an AppleTalk-Ethernet gateway or Mac with an Ethernet card running Liaison at the office you might be able to run one of the above products. What the response would be like I don't know (shudder).
