We have a LocalTalk network and an Ethernet set up as follows: LW+ Mac LW II Mac .. Mac | | | | | | | | | | ---------------------------------------- .. ----------- LocalTalk cable | | | | ------------ -------------- | GatorBox | | Mac Server |----LW II ------------ -------------- | | | | ------------------------------------------------------- Ethernet cable | | | | | | UNIX UNIX Mac LW+----(CAP) FileServer The GatorBox is set up to do KIP encapsulation, and to convert NFS to Apple's network filesystem. The Mac Server is running the AppleTalk Internet router to route between all three attached networks (LocalTalk cable, Ethernet, and local printer). We have the following problems: - Macs on the LocalTalk cable can see all printers and fileservers, including the printer attached to the UNIX machine and provided to AppleTalk via CAP. - The Unix machines can see all printers and fileservers on the LocalTalk cable and provided via CAP, but cannot see resources on the Ethernet cable. - The Macs on the Ethernet can see resources on the Ethernet cable, and on the LocalTalk cable, but cannot see resources provided via CAP or the GatorBox. It appears to me that the following logical network has been set up: KIP on Ethernet ------------ LocalTalk ---------------- EtherTalk -------------------| GatorBox |-------------| Apple Router |------------- ------------ ---------------- and that the GatorBox and Apple Router are not exchanging routing information, so that machines on KIP can't see EtherTalk and machine's on EtherTalk can't see KIP. The GatorBox is supposed to route between EtherTalk and LocalTalk/KIP (according to the documentation), so the Apple Router should only be required to access the LaserWriter attached to the server. It doesn't seem to be doing so. My questions are: 1) What am I doing wrong? 2) How do I set things up so that all machines can access all resources? Thanks in advance... C.
