Has the new telnet been released? I would appreciate any information on how to obtain a copy - even a Beta copy. Please note, I do not have ftp access to ARPANET, but would be willing to pay for a call to pick up the code. We ARE connected via uunet. Thank you, Bruce Beare

The final stages of beta test are happening now. The most recent beta version is usually in NCSA_Telnet/macbeta on our server ftp.ncsa.uiuc.edu (128.174.20.50) via anonymous FTP. Release is targeted for July 1. Tim Krauskopf NCSA

BYU has added a primitive ftp client to NCSA Telnet 2.3, and made a few other improvements. The latest BYU version is 2.3.1 dated 28 Feb 1990, and is available from "noc.byu.edu" (128.187.7.2) in the "pub" directory. With this version of Telnet you can initiate ftp sessions from the Mac, and transfer files between Macs in "MacBinary" format (which means that you don't need to "hex" and "unhex" the files. The ftp "mget" and "mput" commands don't work yet (soon, maybe). The latest improvement (made 28 Feb 1990) allows the "NCSA Settings" file to be shared between multiple users. NCSA Telnet 2.3 is available from zaphod.ncsa.uiuc.edu in the NCSA_Telnet/Mac directory. There is also a copy of the BYU patch in the NCSA_Telnet/contributions directory to do client FTP. pr
