[comp.protocols.appletalk] Mac Dumper & Restore

JER@psuvm.psu.edu (Jeff Rich) (04/14/90)

If anyone has any information on the following please help. There are
two applications that allow a Macintosh on a "network" to backup and
restore their HD's to a UNIX box running Dumper. The first is a
"Chooser" doc called "Dumper". It allows you to select a dump server
(UNIX box running dumper) that is also on the network. The Restore
application, then allows you to rebuild your backed-up disk.

Unfortunately, these applications have been lying around for some time,
and no one here knows where they came from. I'm very interested in
finding out the author and whether or not they're Shareware. The info
I have been able to compile is that Dumper is version 3.1, Jan 89 &
Restore is version 2.0Beta, July 88. Also, the Restore application
mentions Dan Tappan and BB&N in it's startup screen.

If you have any information about these products, please send it to
JER@PSUVM.PSU.EDU.
