U N I X W I Z A R D W A N T E D The MIT Experimental Music Studio is a computer facility located on the MIT campus doing advanced work in computer music. The Studio is a leading center for both production of new works and for research in the medium. We have recently begun a five-year, funded project developing a personal computer-music workstation featuring high-quality real-time digital signal processing (at rates of several hundred megaflops) supported by a musically intelligent user interface. We are looking for a Unix Wizard / System Manager to take primary responsibility for continued development, day-to-day operation, and coordination of maintenance for the several systems at the Studio. The position will be full-time research staff. Primary requirements are experience with C and Unix internals. Other desirable areas of expertise include: real-time systems; networking (i.e. Ethernet); digital signal processing; ability to design, fabricate, and debug hardware; graphics; and musical knowledge or experience, particularly with computer music.
