Hi there. One of the places that I do voluteer working for is just about to get an Appletalk going to network all of there Apple ][GS'es with a Mac SE/30 as a file server. Couple of questions... there are a bunch of old Apple ][s that they still have around... any way to hook these in? More important question: They also have an Epson IBM XT clone that they'd really like to hook into the network. Any way to do it? Also, I'd like a little information about Appletalk... I hear that it's basically a high-speed serial connection. Are there separate lines to do bus control? Or are things just sent in packets and packet headers tell where a packet is going to? Does the actual port of a machine speaking Appletalk need to have interrupt capabilities? And just how fast is Appletalk anyway? Thanks for any information you people out there who respon. Please e-mail responses to kolstad@cae.wisc.edu. If there is any interest, I can later summarize what happened. Thanks! ---Joel Kolstad kolstad@cae.wisc.edu
