	The speech and CAD groups at National Semiconductor are looking for a
system manager for a VAX-11/780, VAX-11/750 and several networked desktop work
stations used in speech synthesis word production and integrated circuit design
and layout. All systems are running UNIX 4.1bsd.

	The system manager must have at least two years of experience with UNIX
operating system internals and should be capable of writing drivers for new dev-
ices that we add to these computers. Responsibilities will include: configuring,
installing, enhancing and maintaining all UNIX software used on these systems as
well as coordinating the maintenance of hardware and software packages running 
on these machines with outside vendors.

	A significant portion of the system manager's responsibility will be to
provide UNIX training for the system users at levels from beginner to system
programmer. Because the system manager will have to interface with many UNIX
ers at all levels, as well as with hardware and software vendors, we are looking
for someone with good interpersonal communication skills.

	Both the speech and CAD groups are dynamic young groups at National.
The systems manager will be play a key role in the future of both groups, so the
job will be challenging and carry a large amount of responsibility.  National 
will pay a good salary for a person whose skills are right for this job.
