What kind of solutions (hardware/software) have people found for backing up a large number of Macs over a network? Ideally, the backup procedure should be able to be automated, and/or run from a central location (no dragging tape drives around). We have Macs on both LocalTalk and Ethernet, connected to UNIX boxes thru 2 GatorBoxes. We currently run Macdump to dump Mac hard drives to a large UNIX disk partition, but because of speed limitations of the GatorBoxes and Localtalk, we have a serious bottleneck problem and can only run a handful of dumps a night. This means some machines aren't getting backed up more than once a month! I know there are several sites (Boeing and Dartmouth come to mind) that have large numbers of Macs to back up over the net. Perhaps someone there can enlighten me (and others with a similar problem). If there is sufficient interest and responses, I will summarize to the net.
