We are setting up a new IIfx and were trying to get it connected to our site Ethernet. No matter what I do, no connections can be made with the outside world. Telnet says the connection could not be completed and states that the gateway or host is not responding. The ethernet hardware is the Apple Ethertalk NB and the drivers and other software is from the installer disk and Telnet 2.3. The board/software works fine in another Mac IIx that we have and the connection to our ethernet was also tested with another computer and it worked fine also. The only think left is a compatibility problem between the EtherTalk NB and the MacIIfx. No diagnostic software was supplied with the Apple board so I'm only guessing. Has anyone gotten this same combination of hardware to work? Is there some update that is required to make this board run on a IIfx? Any information would be appreciated--our dealer doesn't know what Ethernet is. Any recommendations for software that with test Ethernet connections from the Mac side would also be appreciated. -------------------- Kim Gillies, National Optical Astronomy Observatories, Tucson, AZ Usenet: {arizona, decvax, ncar}!noao!gillies or uunet!noao.edu!gillies Internet: gillies@noao.edu SPAN/HEPNET: draco::gillies Phonenet: 6023259246
