Intel: 'an Ultra-high technology company'....
(and the rest of the verbiage in the article)

Are these the same bozos who brought us such gems as the 8086,
iAPX-432 and so on ?
Are these the same geniuses who brought us the 8080 ?

What happened to Intel, anyway ? Where did the spark go ?

...just an old-fashioned flams song...

| OPENINGS FOR OPERATING SYSTEM ARCHITECTS AND SOFTWARE ENGINEERS AT INTEL |
|--------------------------------------------------------------------------|

Intel is an ultra-high technology company with a worldwide reputation for
meeting the specialized needs of a diverse customer base. In Oregon, we are
responsible for developing single board computers, fundamental software
building blocks such as the iRMX and iMAX operating systems, and integrated
hardware/software systems. We are located in Hillsboro, near Portland,
offering the advantages of country living and the proximity of a major metro-
politan area.

We are seeking creative and dynamic professionals in the following areas to
assist us as we continue to deliver total solutions meeting high quality
standards.

Operating Systems Architects:
-----------------------------
Operating Systems Architects have a ground floor opportunity in state-of-
the-art Operating Systems design for Intel's future 32-bit microprocessor.
Working as part of a recently created group, these individuals will provide
technical leadership in architecting and implementing new O.S. software.
They will interface with other hardware and software groups to ensure a
coherent systems architecture.

A candidate should have an advanced degree in Computer Science with at least
five years of systems software experience. Direct experience in real-time
design, distributed computing, virtual memory management and UNIX(*) internals
is preferred. At least two years experience in architectures of sophisticated
operating systems is required.

Software Engineers:
-------------------
Software Engineers will find a challenging opportunity to contribute to
state-of-the-art Operating Systems design for Intel's future 32-bit micro-
processor. The engineer will work with a recently formed development team
to design, specify and implement several new modular O.S. subsystems. Concepts
include real-time operation, protection, synchronization and exclusion, file
and device management, debuggability and distributed computing.

Candidates should have a BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent, with 2-4
years experience in design and implementation of systems software. At least
one year on an operating systems project is required. Knowledge of UNIX(*)
internals is desirable.
