[comp.protocols.appletalk] LAN Ranger Question

wrk@icd.ab.com (William King) (10/10/90)

I've got a copy of LAN Ranger v1.01 and I need to run it on MAC OS
v6.05. Does anyone know the magic number I need to enter when I run the
Update program? I've called Shiva, (I don't even know if this is still
their product) left messages and got a lot of busy signals (Are you listening
Shiva?) but nobody has called back. Thanks.

Here is a portion of the README file for version 1.02B1 of LAN Ranger.

READ ME FIRST- LAN Ranger 1.02

This update is for anyone who would like to run LAN Ranger on a Mac IIcx or
IIci.

You use this update like you would use the 1.01 version of LAN Ranger. You
will need to have a FastPath 4 running 4.1 PROMs on your network. The
following is the list of offsets you should use when running Update LAN Ranger:

Machine / Mac OS / Offset

Macintosh IIcX 6.0.5 720
Macintosh IIX 6.0.5 720
Macintosh II 6.0.5 720
Macintosh SE 6.0.5 710
Macintosh IIcX 6.0.4 720
Macintosh IIX 6.0.4 720
Macintosh II 6.0.4 720
Macintosh SE 6.0.4 710
Macintosh Plus 6.0.4 184
Macintosh IIcX 6.0.3 720
Macintosh SE/306.0.3 720
Macintosh IIX 6.0.3 720
Macintosh IIX 6.0.2 720
Macintosh II 6.0.3 720
Macintosh II 6.0.2 720
Macintosh II 6.0.0 720
Macintosh II 4.2 720
Macintosh SE 6.0.0 710
Macintosh SE 4.0 38
Macintosh SE 4.2 710
Macintosh SE 6.0.3 710
Macintosh Plus 4.2 177
Macintosh Plus 6.0.0 184
Macintosh Plus 6.0.2 184
Macintosh Plus 6.0.3 184

I don't quite remember, but I think I got version 1.02 from AppleLink.

I talked to Shiva about 2 weeks ago (after spending a week getting through
to a live person).
They got Fastpath hardware, Fastpath Manager software, but NOT LAN Ranger -
Novell kept that.
