My company is in the final stages of design and subsequent implementation of an Australia (and maybe parts outside oz :-) wide WAN. This is being based on the use of Cisco multiprotocol bridge/routers and will initially handle IP and DECnet traffic. Does any readers of this newsgroup have any experience with the use of Appletalk protocols over a WAN. Does it work ??? If so, how well, and what are some of the things to look out for. On the other hand, I've heard some people absolutely abhor the use of it on a WAN. Should we use encapsulated AppleTalk, either DECnet or IP, and route using those protocols?? As I indicated in the subject - what are the pros and cons, what should we *not* do ?? :-) ian -- Ian Hoyle /\/\ Image Processing & Data Analysis Group / / /\ BHP Melbourne Research Laboratories / / / \ 245 Wellington Rd, Mulgrave, 3170 / / / /\ \ AUSTRALIA \ \/ / / / \ / / / Phone : +61-3-560-7066 \/\/\/ FAX : +61-3-561-6709 E-mail : ianh@bhpmrl.oz.au
