It has finally come to the point that it is a good idea to consider some sort of a network utility so that many Mac users can share resources. What we would like to accomplish is: 1) Provide large read-only(or maybe read/write) file space to be shared by a large group of AppleTalk connected Mac users. 2) Prevent(od discourage) users from making illegal copies. 3) Keep track of the number of users of a given(or group) of applications. 4) Grant access to particular software to only a given group of users. We have a large base of Mac users and also have the appletalk gate-wayed to our ethernet which contains a few Sun 3 servers and a good sized number of client workstations. What we would like to know is what should we use to help meet our needs outlined above? Are there any advantages of using a UNIX based product over a Mac based one, or visa-versa? Please E-mail responces directly to me and I will summerize if there is sufficient need. Thanks to all in advance. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Why did the Lord give us so much {) kaser@ee.rochester.edu quickness of movement unless it //\\ was to avoid responsibility with? ///\\\ ur-valhalla!kaser /\
