[comp.protocols.appletalk] CAPS/AUFS troubles

ben@ut-emx.uucp (Ben Sloan) (11/15/90)

I'm using a Fastpath 4 to quite happily allow communications between Ethernet
(Suns) and Appletalk (Macs). I've got CAPS running on a Sparcstation and it
allows printing to laserwriters and mounting of AUFS volumes on Macs.

I've configured a directory properly with .afpvols, .finderinfo, and .resource
requisites and can mount it on my Mac. However, when I try to copy files onto
the volume (dragging in the Finder), I get a message reporting "The file
couldn't be written and was skipped (the file/folder is locked)."

There are not disk quotas on the Sun volume, and I have permission to write in
the directory in question. In fact, I can make duplicates of files on the Sun
volume from the Finder without a problem. Furthermore, the problem only occurs
about 85% of the time. Once in a while I can get a whole bunch of files
copied, then, almost at random, the problem returns.

Has anybody seen/fixed this? Any ideas? I don't know what else to do.

Thanks in advance for any comments or suggestions!
