[comp.protocols.appletalk] InterPoll complains on a II/FX

hamm@mbcl.rutgers.edu (11/16/90)

Has anyone else seen the following InterPoll problem: after upgrading a
Mac II to a II/fx, every time I launch InterPoll, I get the message

"No workstation name registered... Be sure to install Responder
	 INIT in System Folder"

But the Responder _is_ installed on the system; it shows its little
startup icon and everything. Moreover, everything functions as it should
once I click OK on the above alert. I can certainly see the Mac on the
network using InterPoll, and I can ping it with echo and sysinfo packets
without any problem.

Is this just a bogus message, or what?

Thanks,

Greg

I get this on my IIfx everytime, too. I just ignore it since it
doesn't seem to cause any problems.

PLEASE, when sending questions, include what version you are using!!!

If you use 1.0, try with 1.0.1. It fixes this bug.

I'm using version 1.1.1 of Responder and version 1.0 of InterPoll and I
get this same message on a IIx. I didn't know there was a version 1.0.1 of
InterPoll. I guess my upgrade notice got lost in the mail. ;-) Anybody
know how to get it, or should I save myself some trouble and buy NetWatch?

When I had this problem, I called up AppleTech support to find out
what the latest version of InterPoll was and how to get it (I was, and
still am, convinced it's a Responder/InterPoll version clash). They told
me that there is only one version of InterPoll, 1.0, and had no explanation
of why I would be getting the problem other than not having installed
Responder, or having done so incorrectly (yeah, right).
