Has anyone had any experience using DayStar's LocalTalk PC card for microchannel PS/2's? I have heard that it works fairly well with PCShare on a LocalTalk network, but I'd like information on some of the networking programs that work on top of PCShare. In particular, will SU-PC/IP and/or NCSA Telnet work properly with this card? I'd also like to know how it works with TOPS, but that is less important since we don't use it much here. I know that the standard distribution of NCSA Telnet doesn't work with LocalTalk, but the modified version with the ltalk driver works fine for ISA machines. If anyone has information about other LocalTalk cards for microchannel systems, I'd like to hear about them as well. Dave Lutz ArpaNet: lutz@psych.rochester.edu BITNET: lutz@uordbv

I posted a few weeks ago asking for info about DayStar LocalTalk cards for MicroChannel systems. In particular, I was interested in knowing if the cards worked correctly with NCSA Telnet and SU-PCIP. I got a few responses, and I'm happy to report that the cards seem to work well with both of these products. They should also work with the standard localtalk networking programs. I also got a report that another company (Dayna Communications, Inc.) also sells a LocalTalk card for Microchannel. I haven't got a recent price on DayStar's cards, but based on my old price list it looks like this card sells for roughly the same price (both are close to $400). The info on Dayna Communications was sent from DAYNA@cc.utah.edu. You can probably contact them for more info if you are interested. Thanks to: David Avery, Grant Jones, and Brian Pierson for their responses. Dave Lutz lutz@psych.rochester.edu

I am sure that someone will correct me if I am wrong, but I think that the Dayna product = the DayStar product. In fact DayStar is no longer in business and Dayna picked up their product line. I seem to remember that this happened about 1.5 years ago...
