Recently I posted some information regarding the benefits of using Phase II as well as explaining and suggesting possible solutions to allow bridging Phase II over other media, specifically FDDI. Both of these topics spurred a lively discussion regarding some implementation issues of AppleTalk Phase I and Phase II. This has, however, led to a few misconceptions about what I do for Apple. I was not and currently are not involved with the development of AppleTalk, nor did I have any influence whatsoever on its creation or design. I work in a service organization that maintains a large AppleTalk network and I maintain much of the hardware and develop software tools that help analyze and monitor our links. It seems that my personal opinions addressed in this forum have been heard by some as "Apple's Official Answer" which is not the case at all. I thought I tried to emphasize that in my postings, but it apparantly did not come through as strongly as I originally intended. My apologies to those who were confused by my postings. I hope it has not caused too much grief. Jim Hayes, Apple Computer, Inc. hayes@apple.com
