Has anyone had any experience with uShare by ipt. I am considering using
it to allow a SUN Sparcstation to serve a group of ethernet Macs. Any
insights and/or experiences any one could give me about the product
would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

We have two Sony NEWS servers running uShare. It works well, but the
Mac interface of the administrator program is a dog, and support is
hard to come by.

Try EtherShare from Helios Software in Germany; a full AFP-compatible A-Share
fileserver and printspooler for UNIX platforms. For SUN they also have an
LocalTalk card that for example can handle several printers connected to the
UNIX host. Of course is printing supported to any printer in the network
both from UNIX and Macintosh sides.
Phase 1 and Phase 2 networks are supported as well as routing between
Ethernets or Ethernet/LocalTalk. The Administrator program is very "Macish"
and let you administrate all users, groups and printers on the UNIX system
as well as all AppleShare volumes.
