[comp.protocols.appletalk] Looking for serial port se

Hi Daniel,

VersaTerm-PRO now ships with a very interesting application which acts a
terminal server over AppleTalk. This application uses Communication Toolbox
Tools to make all of its connections. This would allow anyone who is on your
AppleTalk internet to use their favorite Comm Toolbox terminal emulator to dial
out of the modem that is attached to your CPU (assuming that you are running
this terminal server software in the backgroung under MultiFinder). This does
nothing for your two printers.

     CommToolBox VersaTerm Server
      Terminal

Other possible uses for this terminal server software:
    1) Mac on LocalTalk use another Mac's EtherTalk board to do LAT terminal
service to a VAX. Because the Macs use AppleTalk ADSP to communicate, the
services of an Ethernet-only service (LAT) is not accessable to LocalTalk Macs.

     CommToolBox Internet Router
      Terminal VersaTerm Server

    2) Mac on LocalTalk use another Mac's EtherTalk board to do TCP/IP terminal
service to a Unix host. Because the Macs use AppleTalk ADSP to communicate,
LocalTalk users can interact with TCP/IP hosts without using an IP router.

     CommToolBox Internet Router
      Terminal VersaTerm Server

The power of this software seems to be great but I have yet to put it
through its paces. It would be even more useful if more of the IBM mainframe
connectivity vendors (Apple included!) used the communications toolbox for
their terminal connections.

Does anyone have any experience with this product?
