Is anyone using Shiva NetSerial for dial-in network access? I am trying to do it with a Telebit T2500, and am having very poor luck. After a short time, the connection will hang, with no data being transmitted to the remote Mac. Shiva has been looking into this for the past month, so far without success. Alan

I have been using Hayes modems with netserials for dial-in access with considerable luck. We are using both 2400 and 9600 smartmodems. The 9600 unit can delivery up to 19.2. I am interested in getting ahold of their 38.4K model. Every once-in-a-great-while, the 9600 will need to be reset as it does not allow a dial-in connnection. This is not a hang per se, but a refusal to accept the password. Usually this occurred after a muffed connection attempt, ie wrong password, etc. 2400 and 9600 connections are extremely slow for TOPS file transfers for Microsoft Mail activities. 19.2K is tolerable. Sorry I could not help you with your Telebit. Shiva has told me that they prefer that you use "THEIR" serial cable and they will send you one free if asked. I have been told that this cable is included with all new netserials. That may help. -- = John DeRosa, Motorola, Inc, Cellular Infrastructure Group = = e-mail: ...uunet!motcid!derosaj, motcid!derosaj@uunet.uu.net = = Applelink: N1111 = =I do not hold by employer responsible for any information in this message =
