[comp.protocols.appletalk] Using CAP's lwsrv: no ProcSets

ericw@asihub.autosys.com (Eric D. Williams) (02/09/91)

Greetings Programs,

I'm working on getting several of the utilities in the RU-CAP2
distribution to work on our network and I have a question about
`lwsrv.' In the documentation it clearly states you need the the
ProcSets (dictionaries) for the LaserWriter, but they aren't provided
in the distribution because they are property of Apple Computer.

Question: is anyone using lwsrv, and where did they get the
ProcSet's? We'd like our documentation group to be able to print
from their Mac's to our Unix Imagen printer and lwsrv seems to
be the best way to go.

thanks,

You can get the laserwriter driver on the Mac to save the postscript
code with the laserprep either using command-k or command-f (I believe
it is command-k to get the laserprep included). Then transfer the file
to the unxi machine. You will want to use "prepfix" to fix the
laserprep file to work properly with lwsrv. You can get prepfix by
retreiving "src/macps-22.shar.Z" from rutgers.edu via anonymous ftp.
There are intructions within that package which explain how to
generate the proper prepfile.
