Ummm...can somebody tell me why Apple decided to go against they're seeming commitment to being more "open" by introducing a protocol "loosely based" on SNMP but that isn't compatible with it? Of course, I'm talking about the management protocol Apple plans to introduce. It would be dandy if I could manage the Macs and PC from one place...but now I still need a Mac and PC to see everything. Bleh. Additionally, can someone tell me why Apple doesn't make any real network management software, and why they always rely on third parties to do their work for them. C'mon, Apple! Since software makes the machine, Apple wants third parties -- even to the point that they don't include such essentials like backup software for my hard disk!
