I have set up several PC's here using the Appleshare PC card. Now the switch settings on the cards were set on Polled, but this caused a problem when using Qemm 5.0 to move these drivers into high memory. The solution to this after many phone calls (over three weeks) was to change the switch settings on the card to the default settings (ie interrupt driven). This worked well (I even got Qemm 5.0 and Windows 3.0 to work together) but when printing to a LaserWriter using something like CA-Cricket Graph 1.3 (for windows 286 and 3.0) and WordPerfect 5.0 (from windows 3.0) that takes a lot of processing and someone else "prints" to the LaserWriter both jobs abort and the first PC crashes. Note these machines are 386DX PC's and the LocalTalk access speeds are much greater than the previous 286 networked machines (but these were polled). Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this without using a Mac as a spooler. I've tried to get CAP 5.0 lwsrv to work but the postscript file is sliced up before it is (they are) submitted to the lpd. Note I have two versions of CAP 5.0 working one based on the May 1988 release with some patches to allow PC usage; and a later May 1988 patched to October 1990 (from rutgers I think) which I could not apply the PC patches. I've also tried Mark Rawling's (rcomr@koel.co.rmit.oz) fixes to these files. ---- #include aufs.README cap50_may88.oct90: is the latest version from the states anonymous ftp ???? atis and aufs+mac (aufs renamed) are installed on sorokin cap50_may88: is the version of caps available from csc2 anonymous ftp csc2.anu.edu.au this is an older revision (?7) of the may88 5.0 version aufs+pc (aufs from aufs+pc directory renamed) is installed on sorokin aufs+pc directory is a copy of aufs directory with pc_extras overlayed on that code pc_extras: the only known PC patch for cap50 anonyous ftp munnari.oz note: the def of short in one of the new include files this will not work with the oct90 update (aufs greatly modified) this will work with the revision obtained from csc2 Gavin K Longmuir (gkl300) 10 Oct 1990 ---- Anyone?
