[comp.protocols.appletalk] File/Mail Server Problem

Help! Something funny happened to our server SE/30 a couple of times within the past couple of months. It doesn't crash but it starts to screw up the network.

After this oddity happens a user trying to bring up his Mac (most likely if they mount the server automatically at startup time) their Mac bombs. If they are already running and try to mount the server they get "The file server uses an imcompatible version of the AFP protocol. You cannot connect to it. Please contact the server's administrator." I believe this is a canned message because I can restart the server and then the users have no problems. Macs that were not turned off and had the server mounted a

t the time of this odd occurance, began to run very slow. My solution so far is just to restart the server to clean things up.

This server is running AppleShare with at least 40 users logged in at one time, Microsoft Mail Server and GatorMail-M Server (MS Mail to SMTP Mail Gateway).
I know that machine is running to much for an SE/30 server, but any suggestions would help.
