The position described below is the lead SW position in a Strategic Program Unit. A Strategic Program Unit is an infant Business Unit, and is generally formed to take advantage of a very significant opportunity. This is a position with unusual VISIBILITY and POTENTIAL FOR ADVANCEMENT. SENIOR SOFTWARE ENGINEER: Instrument Systems Division, Tektronix, Inc. Beaverton, Oregon Devise and implement a real-time OS and HLL for new, advanced architecture, instrumentation systems. Lead a team developing techniques for porting existing applications software and languages. Serve on a group defining product directions and standards for advanced instrument systems. Help define advanced, high level tools for test development and knowledge based software system. Requires demonstrated experience in implementing OS/languages and understanding of time-critical software systems; three years successful project leadership experience; extensive experience with micro and mini computer systems. Also, knowledge of, and experience with both high and low level programming languages, including C, BASIC, FORTH, and 8086/68000 assembly. And, good negotiating skills and the desire and ability to work against a tight schedule. Beaverton, a suburb of Portland, is one of the most livable areas of the country. It has a mild year round climate, and is near major recreational facilities.
