The position described below is the lead SW position in a Strategic
Program Unit.  A Strategic Program Unit is an infant Business Unit, and
is generally formed to take advantage of a very significant
opportunity.


This is a position with unusual VISIBILITY and POTENTIAL FOR
ADVANCEMENT.



SENIOR SOFTWARE ENGINEER:  Instrument Systems Division, Tektronix, Inc.
Beaverton, Oregon


Devise and implement a real-time OS and HLL for new, advanced
architecture, instrumentation systems.  Lead a team developing
techniques for porting existing applications software and languages.
Serve on a group defining product directions and standards for advanced
instrument systems.  Help define advanced, high level tools for test
development and knowledge based software system.


Requires demonstrated experience in implementing OS/languages and
understanding of time-critical software systems; three years successful
project leadership experience; extensive experience with micro and mini
computer systems.  Also, knowledge of, and experience with both high
and low level programming languages, including C, BASIC, FORTH, and
8086/68000 assembly.  And, good negotiating skills and the desire and
ability to work against a tight schedule.




Beaverton, a suburb of Portland, is one of the most livable areas of
the country.  It has a mild year round climate, and is near major
recreational facilities.  It is located approximately 15 minutes from
Portland, and approximately 90 minutes from skiing (Mount Hood) and
from the Pacific Ocean.
