[comp.protocols.appletalk] LocalTalk PC Setup

gkl300@coombs.anu.edu.au (Gavin K. Longmuir) (03/20/91)

In reply to the posting about LocalTalk software combinations, at the
research school here we using the following in our LocalTalk configuration.

	25 odd PC's (both 286 & 386) with LocalTalk PC cards (polled)
		using NCSA telnet version 2.3b11
			(must have DOS 3.3 for ftp'ing)
		with half running windows 3.0
	2 386 PC's with LocalTalk PC cards (interupt)
		using NCSA telnet version 2.3b11
		with Qemm 5.12 & windows 3.0
	Microsoft Word 4, 5, and 5A postscript drivers had to be
		modified to work on the LocalTalk network
	We have no email setup to the PC's as yet, we would like
		something that would read the mbox from a users unix
		account without use of an interactive session (any ideas?)
	approx 50 or more macs (mainly SE)
	approx 10 LaserWriters
	A SparcStation 1+ with CAP 5.0 (with PC short name support)
		have sun working as file server for both Mac's and PC's
		have papif working fine (Pyramid, Sun, and VAX connections)
		lwsrv not working with PC's (procset collection trouble)
		will upgrade to CAP 6.0 very soon
	A Pyramid 9825 (setup the same as the sun)
	8 (megan?) multigates (i don't known too much about these)

I would be interested to known of others with similar network setups.
					Gavin.
