[comp.protocols.appletalk] KA9Q questions

kieffer@uncanet.BITNET (Rom Kieffer, TransCanada (03/20/91)

greetings,

Is it possible to run ka9q over Localtalk to a VAX (with tcp/ip support)
via a Gatorbox?
I have been using the SLIP support in ka9q very successfully, but I have been
unable to run over Localtalk, and I wonder whether I am misreading the
instructions in the configuration instructions. I know that packets are sent
out to the Localtalk network because they show on the network monitor,
mostly as illegal packets, but at least I know that they are sent.
I use the following configuration command
  attach appletalk 7e b arpa at0 600 600
as described in the config info.

I can run NCSA telnet/ftp via the localtalk connection to a VAX on one network,

and a SLIP connection to a Vax on another network (albeit not simultaneously)
so the paths and addressing should be ok.

Is there a location where I can pick up a more recent Mac SE/30 version
for ka9q? My version still refers to 'Alpha' and is probably more than
2 years old. I was wondering whether there have been any developments
that would permit my SE30 to route between two separate networks (136.159...
and 142.5...) which is why I have been trying to get the two ports to
operate simultaneously.
If this can be achieved with another product like NCSA for example, I would
like to hear about it.

 thanks
