The News Manager) Nntp-Posting-Host: ca Organization: Novell, Inc. Date: Thu, 21 Mar 1991 17:35:42 GMT If you're involved in the development of network computing software you might be interested in NETSIG and this month's meeting. NETSIG is a special interest group devoted to the needs of the network- focused software developer. We're part of the Software Entrepreneurs Forum (SEF), the well-known Bay Area professional association for those of us involved in the creation and commercialization of software. We meet once a month (4th Tuesday, 7:00pm) at Novell's Sunnyvale facility (but it's not a Novell-oriented group). This month's speaker is Tom Rielly from Farallon Computing talking about "Cross Platform Connectivity: PhoneNET-Talk PC". Farallon recently signed a broad licensing arrangement with Apple for Appletalk protocols. People generally come to these meetings for two purposes: 1) to meet other developers working on a variety of platforms; and 2) to hear guest speakers address various aspects of what it takes to build a software product for a "connected" market. They speak from experience; all of the guests have been (and are) in the trenches. Details: The meetings are held at 890 Ross Drive in Sunnyvale, in the triangle formed by 237, 101 and Mathilda. If you've been to a Novell seminar, it's probably in the same room. The meeting is at 7:00pm March 26th. Next month Brian Meek from Novell will be speaking on NetWare and TCP/IP co-existence on April 23rd. May 28th will bring Bill Taylor from Hayes speaking on technologies and opportunities in ISDN. In June, Rick Padilla will be speaking on ONC, NFS and distributed computing (he's the product manager for ONC and NFS). As you can see, we have interesting speakers. You'll also enjoy meeting the other software developers who are attending. For more information contact me (Skip, saddison@novell.com or 408-747-4356) or Bill Bryant (415-490-5583). -- Skip
