Neophyte alert... [1/2 :-)] An appletalk network was recently completed along with a mass of other wiring. The Fastpath has been configured, tested, and is working quite reasonably. We have been able to install CAP on a Sun 3/160 without any problems. To compile on a DECstation (Ultrix 4.0), we had to tweak CAP 5.0 slightly. CAP 6.0, however, includes Ultrix/MIPS support. On the DECstations, the programs compile with no significant problems. The main problem, however, is that there seems to be no "broadcasting" of anything which is configured. Running an atlook from the machine which configures everything, everything appears to be there, and also accessible. However, machines outside of the local entity can't see anything at all. Up until now (and perhaps now included), the problems have been the platform (DS3100/Ultrix 4.x). CAP 6.0 was much better at determining what it was looking at, but still we run into problems. Has anyone had any experience configuring CAP in a DECstation/Ultrix environment and managed to get it to work? If so, I'd appreciate hearing from you. (Email preferred). -- Robert J. And I can use lwpr to send files to an AppleTalk laser printer fine. However, nothing NBP registered on the machine can be seen eiter by atlook or by InterPoll on a Mac. This is on a SparcStation 1+. Has anyone successfully ported CAP 6.0 to the sparc? I'd be really greatful for any assistance. ............................................................ : : : Norman Franke, III nf0i+@andrew.cmu.edu : : Special Projects Carnegie Mellon University : : Macintosh Users Group, VP Pittsburgh, PA : :..........................................................: "Why can't I get more quota?"
