Now that I think about it, there probably is an obvious anwser to this question but I don't know it! Could someone please point me to some hardware/software to do the following: A Mac user (in this case an SE30 but in general the question arises for any Mac) wants to remotely (ie from home) connect to our EtherTalk network. What software is available for the remote Mac to make the serial port and modem the network connection? What hardware/software is needed on a machine on the net? The net machine could be a Mac, a Sun, a cisco router or terminal obx, for instance. Any recommendations? Solutions that include some security provisions would be nice! I have tested the following solutions providing a serial entry point to an AppleTalk network: 1. Liaison - Software router with serial entry support from Farallon Requires a Mac (can be used on an AppleShare server) 2. NetSerial,EtherGate - Box routers from Shiva (they have additional featurs. EtherGate is more capable) Standalone. 3. Async AppleTalk - Part of CAP 6.0 package (provided thru UAB) Requires SUN or Ultrix.
