AppleTalk Gods: We're trying to set up one of our SparcStations as a AppleShare File server using CAP 6.0. Our set-up is: A sparc 1+ sitting on our ethernet (eventually) running aufs, a kinetics fastpath gateway to the localtalk network on which all of our Macs live. Our laserwriter is on the localtalk network. My questions: 1. Do I need KIP? OR can I run CAP with 'native ethertalk'? What does this mean anyway? 2. If I need KIP, where do I get the most current version? We don't have a 68000 compiler on any of our Unix boxes (the last Sun3 is gone), so we don't really have the means to compile any code. (I'm referring to some comments from the install instructions from an 0688 release of KIP) 3. Is there a good reference available for general AppleTalk network administration? (i.e. simple introduction, but with depth as you get into it, clear definitions, examples, etc.) Thanx in advance! --jon -- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jon Whalen @ U. of Notre Dame | At the moment, I have absolutely nothing to j1whalen@handel.helios.nd.edu | say. (Which is probably for the best.) --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
