[comp.protocols.appletalk] Bridging Localtalk from KFP's on two ethernet subnets

duncan@mace.cc.purdue.edu (Malcolm Duncan) (06/06/91)

We have an IBM RT running 4.3 UNIX (don't snicker) with two ethernet cards.
On each ethernet subnet(card) are a string of Fastpath 4's. Each subnet
has a logical zone name. Appletalk packets are merrily being exchanged
between all of the Fastpaths on a particular subnet. Appletalk packets
are NOT being transferred from one subnet to the other. That is, people
running the Chooser while attached to a Fastpath on one subnet can NOT
see any devices attached to any of the Fastpaths on the other subnet.

Is there a way to make devices on both subnets visible to users on both
subnets? I understand that this is a routing problem. Can it be solved
by setting up a routing on the UNIX box? Does it require specific KFP
configuration? Does it require a separate bridge? I have been playing
telephone tag with Shiva tech support for over a week without any
promising results.

Thanks in advance!
