It is available for order from the Apple Programmers and Developers Association (APDA). You can reach APDA at: (800) 282-2732 (U.S.), (800) 637-0029 (Canada), (408) 562-3910 (International) or via e-mail at APDA@applelink.apple.com or via U.S. mail at: APDA Apple Computer, Inc. 20525 Mariani Avenue, M/S 33-G Cupertino, CA 95014 A single-use copy of MacTCP is available for $100 (P/N: M0230LL/B) The documentation alone is also available for $60 (P/N: M0217LL/A) Call for information about site licensing options. Hi, I'm developing software using MacTCP. I'm going to sell my program, can I include MacTCP with it, or should I get a license from Apple ? How much will it cost to me per copy? Thanks, Cristina. -------------------------- Cristina Tozzi Istituto di Astrofisica Spaziale Frascati, Roma

The license is usually a flat fee (not per copy sold) and the price varies depending upon who you are and how you are using the software. Recently distributed licensing packages distributed by Apple do not include information on licensing MacTCP. You must specifically request that information. Most licensing fees are less than US$100. You must license per product developed. Educational institutions may obtain a site license for MacTCP. Well, to the best of my recollection we paid roughly $5,000 US for our license to distribute MacTCP on our disks. If it is less than $100 US I want to know where the rest of my bucks went??? :-) The cost is $5,000 for commercial distribution of MacTCP, as per Apple licensing. Kurt Baumann --

How does one go about getting a copy of MacTCP? I checked the Apple price list and it isn't there. We're getting a copy of Mac POP which requires MacTCP, and I've certainly heard talk about the package, but where is it? -- Paul H. MacTCP is available from APDA for $100 for a single user license. You can call APDA at 1-800-282-2732. I have been using MacTCP with NCSA Telnet 2.3 and tn3270 and really like it. You should, however, get the patch that has been floating around this news group, since there is apparently a problem with packet sizes sometimes. Check with Steve Dorner (s-dorner@uiuc.edu). I am using the patched version and have had no problems. pr -- Pete Resnick (...so what is a mojo, and why would one be rising?) Hi. I have a problem with MacTCP (original). I have read the manual but being not-networking inclined, I might have failed to understand it. The MacTCP on my IIfx is configured 137.132.248.224. I can access the name server on 137.132.248.13, plus all the sparcs that are linked to it. I am using NCSATelnet MacTCP 2.3.4 (BYU version with FTP client). I tried access apple.com through its ip address 130.43.2.2 or anything but 137.132.x.x and Telnet simply refused to connect. Can some kind soul explain to me what I am doing wrong? Thanks a zillion.

You need to tell us what your Gateway is set to and what your netmask is set to, and what it is supposed to be. The first two are info from the MacTCP Cdev and the latter is from your network adminstrator.

You can't FTP to Apple.com. I wouldn't be surprised if it has telnet access off as well! In article <E6D32C2DBEA00062@BITNET.CC.CMU.EDU>, ISSTTH@NUSVM.BITNET (TNG TaiHou) writes: > > Hi. I have seen several people report that MacTCP does not work with virtual memory and system 7. What is the problem. I have been running MacTCP and virtual together for sometime. I do use it a lot with program such at NCSA Telnet and TN3270 and HyperFTP. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Internet=> Brett@aardvark.ucs.uoknor.edu + Brett Morrow Bitnet => Brett@uokucsvx +Computer Lab Specialist University Of Oklahoma - University Computing Services ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Internet=> Brett@aardvark.ucs.uoknor.edu + Brett Morrow Bitnet => Brett@uokucsvx +Computer Lab Specialist University Of Oklahoma - University Computing Services ----------------------------------------------------------------------
