[Mailbox trouble - sorry for the delay! Also, don't forget that proposals must be received by 8 May if they are to be included in the agenda for the June meeting. Hokey] The following message appeared from David Brown on Forum. I am forwarding a copy of it to those of you whose network address I know, and who may not get a chance to sign on to Forum very often. If you wish to reply to this message, please reply to me and I will forward it to either the MDC mailing list on Forum (default) or to David only, if requested. Unless your mailer supports quoted names, you cannot reply to David directly. ------------- FORWARDED MESSAGE FOLLOWS -------------- 1. The MDC schedule for our JUNE meeting currently is as follows: MONDAY - morning - Full MDC opening meeting - discussion ANSI, membership, minutes, etc. - afternoon - Subcommittee #1 - Dispose of those items which are ready for consideration. Define issues for task groups to work on. Probably be finished middle of the afternoon. TUESDAY - morning - LIASON Subcommittee meeting. - afternoon - Working group to deal with technical details of items being submitted to ANSI (see below). WEDNESDAY - morning - VALIDATION Sub. THURSDAY - morning - DOCUMENTATION Sub. ** NOTE ** Subcommittee meetings will probably be 1-2 hours. TUESDAY,WEDNESDAY,THURSDAY - various task group meetings. FRIDAY - morning - SUB #1 - Consider and work on task group work. - afternoon - Full MDC - Consider work of subcommittees, deal with final details of ANSI approval. ------ The above schedule is not final, comments and suggestions should be responded to here on FORUM -- Speak now ... 2. ANSI submission - Dick Walters has been working with ANSI on finalizing the canvass list and as things now stand, will be ready to go out immediately after the June meeting. The various Type A's have been assimilated by John Lewcowicz and John Godfrey and will be distributed to the membership in the next 2-3 weeks. Please look at these very carefully, there will be a working group to consider any problems on Tuesday afternoon. Note that we are NOT talking about anything substantive, rather to make sure that they are all consistent with both the 1984 standard and with each other. Grammatical or style problems can also be dealt with. PLEASE spend some time on these and communicate any major problems to Richard Davis or myself as soon as possible. 3. For consideration - We will have a Macintosh computer equipped with projection capability available to us at the next meeting. Richard Davis has volunteered to make all proposals available on-line prior to the meeting. As changes are made, we will be able to edit and see the proposed changes either through direct display (perhaps only applicable to smaller task groups) and updated printed material. At this time I am contemplating funding a student to assist in this function (as well as to keep track of the hardware). MDC funds will pay student wages for the week of the meeting as well as approximately 40 hours prior to the meeting to assist Richard Davis in preparation. Anticipated cost along with requisite travel expenses would be less than $1600. There are adequate funds to support this activity but if anyone has comments about this proposed expenditure, please communicate them to Richard Davis or myself as soon as possible. 4. The MDC is in the position of accumulating funds due primarily by the lack of funding of task groups since no one seems to want to meet. If any task group or (small) subcommittee needs to meet, please send me a message. FUNDS ARE AVAILABLE!
