From: Bryan Lyles <bryan> I am a guest researcher at the Computer Science Department of Linkoping University, the largest and oldest Computer Science department in Sweden. Several students have asked me about the possibility of work in the U.S. Two of these students are VERY good, comparable to the top U.S. students, while the rest seem quite competent. All have, or will have, a Civil Engineering degree in Computer Science or EE (with emphansis in digital systems). Linkoping University equates this degree to a U.S. M.Sc. since a thesis requiring about three months of work is part of the degree requirements. Visas are a problem. Companies interested in hiring one of these students will have to deal with immigration. However, companies with Swedish or Nordic branches should have an easier time.
