     The  Cardiology  Division  of  the  Internal   Medicine
Department  of the University of Michigan Medical School has
an opening for a Systems Research Programmer.  The  Cardiol-
ogy  Division is currently involved in research in the areas
of image processing, interactive computer graphics, database
applications, computer networking, and geometrical modeling.

     The duties to be performed include the ability to  pro-
gram,  implement,  and  maintain the basic components of the
Division's  computing  facility;  assist  in  the  purchase,
development, and system design of a new computer facility to
be established in the next two years.

     Qualifications include a Master's  degree  in  computer
engineering,  computer  science,  bioengineering, or related
field, or it's equivalent.  Experience and knowledge of com-
puter  hardware  and  experience in operating, implementing,
and maintaining computer operating system.  Experience  with
DEC  computer hardware and operating systems and the ability
to write efficient code in FORTRAN, Assembly, PASCAL, and C.

     Knowledge of medical terminology,  cardiac  physiology,
image processing, computer graphics, the UNIX operating sys-
tem, and a research orientation would be helpful.
