The job would involve first some training time (perhaps a month) at the Corps of Engineers research Lab in Champaign, IL (CERL) where the system was developed. After that, several months would be spent in Anniston, Alabama - working with users in the Fort McClellan Environmental Office. The original system was developed in C/UNIX on a VAX 11/780, and is now also functioning on a Sun Microsystem 150U (68010 chip) running UNIX 4.2 bsd. There is now a Sun 150 both in Champaign and in Anniston. In addition to user assistance, the job would also involve helping with a series of hardware and software upgrades planned during the next year. This job would originally be for a one year period - but continuation beyond this period would be possible. Prefer someone with both a programming background and interest/experience in landscape analysis and interpretation. If interested, contact Bill Goran or Jim Westervelt at (217) 352-6511 x448 or write us at P.O. Box 4005, Champaign, IL 61820. We are interested in filling this position ASAP.
