The department was established in 1968 with the appointment of Professor C.S. Wallace. Pesently the department offers a three-year undergraduate course and a four-year Honours course. M.Sc. and Ph.D. programs exist. Department research activities are in the areas of information hiding, hardware and software designs for multiprocessors, file design, data base semantics, numerical solution of ODEs, numerical taxonomy, programming languages, and logic programming.
